Little Ms A- Dog shot with arrow
Tax deductible
Someone shot this sweet girl with an arrow & she was left to suffer, carrying this arrow for at least a week before she received any help.
A good Samaritan called PAWS when the dog showed up on his porch the day before with the arrow and then the next morning was still lying under a bush in his yard. He said she then ran off into the woods with his dogs.
PAWS Director Beth Clind immediately went to search for the dog & requested Jesse, to meet her at the location. When P.A.W.S. Placing Animals Within Society got to the location the good Samaritan said the dog had ran off with his dogs into the woods. We all continued to search for her. Later that evening around 5 pm the dogs belonging to the man came home but the injured dog was not with them.
P.A.W.S. Placing Animals Within Society of Bryson City NC continued to search for the injured dog and Beth continued to look for her late into the night. Early Saturday morning the dog returned to the good Samaritans porch and laid down in a old wicker chair. She had come there to die, she had given up. She was barely holding on and yes sadly still had the arrow lodged through her body.
We had been told that she was growling if anyone got to close to her but we knew to transport her we would need to trim the arrow down. We left the arrow in place and worked diligently to make her as comfortable as possible for our trip to the vet. The closest vet opened was 1 1/2 hours away so we knew we needed to act quickly in order to save her.
Beth, Jesse and the good Samaritan loaded the dog into the PAWS van, chair and all, so that we didn’t hurt her when moving her. Every little move was piercing her little body so we tried to be as gentle as possible. We knew she had excruciating pain every time that arrow touched anything so we let her remain in the chair. P.A.W.S. headed to R.E.A.C.H. as quickly as possible.
We are unsure how long this poor girl has been running around with an arrow through her poor little body.
(Sorry for this gory part) Maggots had already started to eat away at her dead flesh.
When we arrived at REACH they immediately came out to assist us and started working on Little Ms A. Their main concern was to get her stabilized. All her vitals were so weak and she had lost a lot of blood and pain medications and fluids were administered immediately.
Ms A underwent surgery to remove the arrow just as soon as they got her stable enough to survive the surgery.
Little Ms A’s medical expenses at REACH have already reached the $5,822.43 amount and increasing daily. Due to the skin tissue damage which was extensive Ms A will undergo several surgeries to remove the dead skin. We all know surgery is never cheap nor is hospitalization and Ms A sadly will have a long stay at REACH before she is well enough to be transported to our shelter.
Please contact Beth Cline-Stroud at [email redacted] with any further questions.
All prayers and donations to her care are very much appreciated.
