Dogs of Celestun Food and Medicine Fund

Please note: all money is denominated in Mexican pesos (MXN) not USD
For the past 19 years my wife and I have been caring for stray dogs in a small town on the West coast of the Yucatán peninsula. We've been largely self-funded, but with food and veterinary costs climbing we're having trouble making ends meet. We decided to stop accepting new strays over 2 years ago... until one had a litter on our proverbial doorstep in June. There are still 4 puppies in need of homes, and their mom needs to be spayed and vaccinated. We need assistance.
Currently we care for around 40 dogs (and 2 cats), upwards of 15 receive medication 2x daily. Dry food costs 30-35 pesos per kilo, and they go through up to 150 kilos a week. That's 18000 pesos a month, in addition to medications and inevitable veterinary visits (around $1000 USD). We are currently seeking 10,000 pesos, or roughly half a month's food and medicine, to see if crowdfunding can help us. If we are successful, we will try more detailed campaigns for specific needs, like spaying and vaccinating incoming dogs and helping other people afford medicine for theirs.
We appreciate anything you can spare to help us continue helping the dogs of Celestún. Please visit our blog for more information on what we do and have been doing. Thank you for your support.
Here are some pictures from over the years. This is what we do.
