Doing Hard Things With Great Courage

Hello big hearted friends, family and strangers!

I am raising funds for my dear friends, the Phillips Family.

James Phillips, age 13 was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer called Osteosarcoma at age 12.

James was admitted to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI where he has undergone many chemotherapy treatments and surgery over the past six months. His treatments require back to back inpatient stays miles away from his home, friends and family. He has had to sacrifice his love of playing football and being part of a team, and instead supports the teams he loves (University of Michigan, Detroit Lions, and Miami Dolphins) from his bedside, often with an IV infusion on game days.

He has spent holidays apart from siblings and cousins. While we gathered with family in our homes and shared a Thanksgiving meal, James gathered with other pediatric patients in the activities room of the hospital. As I write, it is uncertain if James will be discharged to be home for Christmas from his current treatment. Despite these unimaginable circumstances, James has faced his health challenges with remarkable determination....and GREAT COURAGE!

The journey towards healing continues, with many months and rounds of chemotherapy ahead. Julie Jo and Christopher (James' parents) are often passing ships to one another as they are a dedicated presence at James' side at the hospital in Ann Arbor while also parenting three young children at home.

Unfortunately, the financial burden associated with James' intensive treatments, including medical bills, prescriptions, and missed work, has become overwhelming for James' family of six. This is why we've launched this GoFundMe campaign to raise greatly-needed funds to help support James' ongoing treatment and wellbeing.

Your donation will directly contribute to covering medical expenses, specialized treatments, travel costs and other necessities. EVERY contribution, either monetary or spiritual gift covering James and his family in prayer WILL make an enormous difference for James and his journey towards recovery.
