Doing it for the Kerr’s

Donation protected

My dear friend Peter Kerr and his wife Helen received some devastating, life changing news, that Peter aged 35 years old has a glioblastoma, an aggressive type of cancer that begins within the brain. Unfortunately these tumours cannot be cured and all treatment is pallative. This diagnosis and prognosis has changed Peter and Helen's lives and all family and friends are heartbroken. Helen was pregnant, with their daughter at the time, and baby Cece arrived in early September, happy and healthy! Their daughter will always be told of the great legacy her father has provided to all of our lives.

Peter and I worked together from 2008 to 2012 and quickly became the best of friends and as anyone that reads the above will appreciate that I’m totally devastated at this news.

From the moment Peter told me what was ahead of him I’ve tried to find a way to help which has led me to this point…inspired by Peter's rugby club, Bradford on Avon, who are currently in the process of running kms for Kerr and donating the proceeds to the Lewis Moody Foundation, I have personally taken on the following to raise sponsorship to contribute to both this cause and to Peter’s wife and baby in an equitable split with the following challenge.

Starting on Sunday November 28th, at the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, I am taking on a world record attempt to hit the most golf shots within a 24 hour period, the record currently stands at 10,392 shots in 24 hours (one shot every 8 seconds), my aim is to achieve 12,000 shots, 500 per hour, 1 ball every 7.2 seconds - Guinness World Records have accepted this as a fully fledged world record attempt based on the following criteria, each shot travels a minimum of 100 yards and finishes within 30 degrees of the centre point of the hitting area - those who have seen me play golf I’m sure will attest to the fact neither of the parameters is a foregone conclusion and further to it will be the biggest physical challenge I’m likely to ever take on in my life, but pales into insignificance compared to what Peter and his family are going through.

Should anyone like to come along to lend a hand or support, the challenge gets underway at 16.00 on Sunday 28th November and runs until 16.00 on Monday 29th November.

Adding some huge thank yous to making this event happen, I'd like to thank Toptracer, GMS, Richard Latham and Adam Keogh at the The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, the team at England Golf and the friends that are giving up their time to come and support and assist in making the attempt a success.

Thank you for taking the time to read to this point and your donations and support will be greatly appreciated.
