Diego’s Taqueria may be on the verge of closing and we’re asking for your help during this very unprecedented time.  Elena and Isaac, as so many of their fellow restaurateurs, have drained themselves beyond their reserves in order to avoid the inevitable--shuttering their doors.  But they’ve reached the point where they require your help to keep serving the community Hudson Valley's "Best Taco Selection."

It’s hard to believe that just six short years ago, Elena and Isaac came with a vision (and little else!) and transformed Lucy’s Tacos--a fast food joint--into a lively, cozy, upbeat hub where actors, authors, artists, average folk and the occasional celebrity come from miles around to not only eat some of their outrageous food--smoky beet tacos, cauliflower pescado, and guacamole with freshly-made chips--but to grab signature cocktails, imbibe local craft beers and wines, listen to great music, and enjoy the “perfect cool vibe.”

Isaac and Elena have poured their hearts and souls into creating this warm, comforting space, with food that has been called “insanely delicious” and tacos that may be “the cure for anxiety.”

Diego’s has become an icon in Uptown Kingston, and judging from the loyalty its customers have shown through the years--but especially during this past year--they think so, too.   Elena and Isaac’s dedication to Kingston has proven to patrons that they can be relied upon, both for food, and as a bright spot during these dark days.  But takeout and a few outdoor tables don’t begin to cover the day-to-day expenses such as rent, utilities, payroll, food, liquor, taxes and all other costs of doing business.

Employees come first at Diego’s, and Isaac and Elena have always tried to keep as many people working and paid as they could.  It has been especially so this past year, but being employee-centric has caused further detriment for the business.  Plus, there’s the added necessity for keeping everyone safe.

We know that financially these are not good times, as well as the holidays are upon us.  We will get past this time, and we will once again look forward to enjoying precious spots like Diego’s.  You can help to ensure that Diego’s will still be here to welcome you.

Please know that Elena and Isaac were not in favor of this posting.  This request is coming from their family.  Please do not contribute to Diego’s if you’re down to your last dollars.  We will accept good wishes from you.  Messages of support are extremely helpful and important, too.  But if you’re able, we’d really appreciate anything you can do.  And please, let everyone you know, know...you know?  We can use all the help we can get!  The loss of Diego’s would be a loss for Kingston.

Thanks for listening and thank you so much for your help.  Be safe.
