Dolores A. Mortimer Memorial

Tax deductible
The House Of Mercy & Encouragement Foundation (HOME) is collecting donations for a memorial to preserve the legacy of our founder, Dolores A. Mortimer.

Dolores passed away on February 3, 2023, after a lifetime of service to her church and community. Dolores created HOME in 2006 as a wellness center for children, after her son, Tim Mortimer and nephew, Mike Celidonio, were tragically killed in a car accident. In her words, Dolores started HOME because “God put upon my heart to do something in remembrance of the boys to help others.”

Dolores always felt a connection with Michelangelo’s statue of La Pietá, housed in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. The name Pietá means “compassion.” It shows a mother’s grief as Mary weeps after the death of her son and hold him in her arms. After the tragic loss of their sons, Dolores and her her sister Shirley wished to create a place of quiet reflection for other parents who have experienced the loss of a child. They donated a life-size reproduction of La Pietá to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, their family parish.

Over the years, Dolores wished for the addition of a weather-resistant shelter to protect La Pietá from the elements. This memorial shelter will ensure this place of compassion and peace is preserved for years to come. Please consider donating to help honor Dolores, who we will all miss.

Funds will be collected through the House Of Mercy and Encouragement, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Thank you all for your contribution to help preserve the memory of Dolores.
