Dolphin's Bills & Fund for Nami's Continued Care
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Ariela Kristantina. I'm a feelance comic artist from Jakarta, Indonesia. While I may not be a professional rescuer, I have a deep care for the outside cats in my neighborhood. Occasionally, I pick up strays or injured cats when I can and send them to my regular vet.
Dolphin, my neighbor's inside/outside cat, was one of many cats living this way in Jakarta. The city's busy and bustling nature poses risks, especially with the multitude of motorcycles. It's not entirely safe, but many low-income families, who care for numerous cats, struggle to provide a secure home. Cat litters and food costs can quickly add up, so these families feed the cats but also allow them to roam freely for additional sustenance.
This morning, Dolphin wasn't very lucky. As the car left the driveway, he attempted to run inside my house and tragically got his right hind leg caught under the tire. This caused massive internal bleeding, and despite rushing him to the nearest clinic, Dolphin passed away within hours. Dolphin's medical bill includes painkillers, IVs, blood tests, x-rays, other injections, oral meds, transport, etc.
Now, let me tell you about Nami, a stray cat living near a McDonald's downtown. I rescued him after reading a report about a badly injured cat and brought him to my regular vet. Nami has a severely infected open laceration that developed into an abscess, swollen gum, and rotten teeth. The vet suspects carcinoma, and a biopsy was done (results pending — it takes 14 working days here). His blood work shows severe anemia, bacterial infection, dehydration, and infected liver and kidneys. Nami's bill covers blood tests, clean up, hematology, biopsy, hospitalization (ongoing for 13 days), daily medication/antibiotics/vitamins, etc. If the biopsy is positive for carcinoma, there will be more discussions with the vet.
In the past, I handled this myself with the help of a few close friends, and this is my first time asking for help to settle these cats' medical bills publicly because this feels too much too handle. The vet has been very kind, offering reduced costs because she knows these cats aren't mine, and I'm merely trying to help. The money right now will cover both Dolphin's and Nami's medical expenses. Thank you so much for reading, and please let me know if you'd like to help but prefer to send the funds via Go*Pay (for Indonesians).
