Domestic Violence: COVID-19 URGENT APPEAL
Domestic Abuse Counselling Service (DACs)
(Charity no. 1125103 legal name INSIGHT CCSS)
We are a specialist domestic violence counselling service DACS, providing free services to our community for over 14 years . As you are aware, we are in unprecedented and challenging times dealing with the unforgiving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
As a charity we rely on funding, grants and donations. We are reaching out for HELP, for already we are receiving massively increased calls for our help, for those afraid to be in isolation with their perpetrator.
Here at DACS we are acutely aware of the risk posed to those experiencing domestic violence and domestic abuse during any period of isolation with their perpetrators, especially during this health crisis where help may be harder to access. It is vital that we can offer our support and advice on protective measures victims can take, to reduce risk of escalation of abuse during these unprecedented times.
Our immediate action in this crisis has been to transfer all current ‘face to face’ counselling sessions to telephone counselling, in order that we stay operational and offer support to victims of DV/DA.
All our counsellors are trained to deliver telephone counselling from a project we developed last March, for rural areas of Warwickshire funded by government to our local authority.
Unfortunately, we are devastated to learn that continuation funding for this project was not successful, and our telephone project funding ended, on MARCH 31st as this country went into lock down !!!
Please help support the continuation of this VITAL service. Thank you
