dOMESTIC tERRORIST Studio Recording
(High Street Mall, Fremantle, September 2015)
Hello! Bonjour! Thanks for coming down!
My name is Montego Ikarus and I have been writing music, busking and traveling the world for over 10 years. I am raising money to professionally record my original material.
I have lived on the streets for a period of roughly three years and in this time I have become intimate with world issues and wealth inequality. I travel from town to town around the world busking on a daily basis as my primary form of income. I don't get government benefits, and rarely do I have a job on the side. I am out there on the street singing songs daily that mean something to humanity and this planet we live on - issues we need to pay attention to.
This gives me a great opportunity and advantage to connect with people face to face introducing new ideas into the mainstream of consciousness.
The crowd funding will give me tools to get things going fast in the right direction.

My music is my passion and those who know me on a personal level can be a living testament to my dedication. I re-awaken the authentic definition of the 'troubadour': to travel the lands, unashamedly singing truth - using street music as a tool for societal change.
Presently, by standing up for your sovereign rights in Australia you are deemed a potential terrorist threat by the Australian government. In other words people are being labelled domestic terrorists simply for standing up for their rights. This is the basis behind the name. It is not my intention to mock or denigrate people involved in or killed in real attacks - to whom I extend my sincerest condolences.
The money will go to recording hours, professional production assistance, mastering, design, a first run of a few hundred CDs and any fees for making the music available online. I will be selling the CDs on the street, at gigs I play, at protests and on Bandcamp/Tunecore. Quite often I will sell them for less than the asking price simply because I want people to hear the music. I will also make the music available for download for free online with lyrics and chords to play along to simply because I want my music to be listened to.
It is extremely valuable for a street performer to have a professional studio recording for sale to back up the act, giving professionalism and in turn making the effect of the message of the music stronger.

7,777 is the aim but not the limit. If the funding exceeds the limit it will be used for touring costs, advertising and distribution.
