In January 2023 Dom was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Dom has been receiving treatment from his medical team, however, has not been approved for Disability income. With the progression of the ALS, Dom had to make the difficult decision to cease working his full-time job of performing for Norwegian Cruise-lines. While Dom has picked up other jobs in Mt. Pleasant and Kevin is working multiple jobs, these circumstances have caused a great financial, emotional, and physical strain on Dom and Kevin. We are calling on family and friends to offer their support if they are able to assist in the upcoming changes ahead - making their home accessible for Dom and creating stability so that Kevin and Dom can spend quality time. Simply sharing this link along is greatly appreciated.

Here is Dom’s testimonial about his diagnosis and life:

“Today, I sit here exactly one year later to the day. A day that changed my life forever. I was diagnosed with non-genetic ALS. It’s been a year of processing the why’s, how’s and what do I do next.

Why me? Why not me. What makes me anymore special than all the people in the world. That question was easy to answer.

How can I have ALS without having the gene? That’s one, I still haven’t been able to wrap my head around. Still working on that.

What’s next? I am living! I have been continuing to achieve and conquer my dreams. I starred in two shows. I published my first book. I’ve traveled the world and spent lots of time with family and friends.

One year later, my hands don’t work that well anymore. My right leg drags. I now have a handicap sign for my car. I say all that, but I can still walk. I can still dress myself. Even though it takes me twice as long as it use to. I can still feed myself. Even though silverware is very heavy to lift. I’ve found ways to make it all work. One thing that has been hard is losing my singing voice. I can’t sing like I used to. I’ve had to let go of what I used to be able to do and celebrate that I still can sing.

One thing I never truly knew until now was what unconditional love is. My husband. My love. My everything. He has risen to heights I never knew a human could. The hardest words I’ve ever heard him say were “I thought I had forever. But, I don’t.” It breaks my heart every time I think about it. It’s unfortunately the facts.

I’ve chosen a new mantra to live by. “I’m going to win at life for as long as I can!” If I can leave you all with this. Life truly is short. We all die. It’s just some earlier than others. Stop worrying so much. Make a list of things you want to do or achieve. Start NOW by checking them off and achieving them. NO REGRETS!

Tell your family and friends you love them every time you see them or talk to them. Be one with the beauty that is Mother Nature and earth. When you remove all the chaos, earth is incredible.

Thank you to all of my family and friends who have helped myself and Kevin. I’ve never been one to ask for it before. I’ve learned to surrender and accept that help because we need it. I will continue to lead with love. Stand up for those who don’t have a voice. I will 100% keep inspiring and lifting others to their full potential.

Sending love and gratitude to everyone and the universe.”

While Dom and Kevin are not my blood, they are some of the best big brothers I could I have dreamed of. They have become part of my safe space. They are two of the select few I could share anything with and be encompassed with love. Dom encourages every dream I speak into existence and be my most authentic self. They are both always willing to show up whenever their family and friends need them. Whenever I need them. I am so proud of the way Dom has embraced this new phase of life, and found the joy that still remains. I’m just hoping we can reciprocate some of that care and love Dom and Kevin show for others. Dom and Kevin - you are so incredibly loved by many. ❤️ Emily
