Dominic's Acquired Brain Injury Journey
Donation protected
Dominic was celebrating his older sisters wedding and towards the end of the night he become violently sick and complained of a severe headache. He was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Children's Hospital and admitted into the PICU and extubated.
Dominic had suffered an AVM with a significant brain stem bleed. He underwent neurosurgery and the doctors had informed us to say our goodbyes.
He began to make progress and was moved to HDU and then to the neurology ward once he was stable.
Dominic then started to recieve intense neuro-rehab and is under the care of a team of consultants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and a speech and language therapist. Dominic has an acquired brain injury due to the AVM and is having to relearn everything, from walking and talking.
He had been and is still having rehab in the John Radcliffe Children's Hospital for over 4 months now.
Before the AVM Dominic was a happy, bright, intelligent boy who loved gaming, youtubing, and was interested in dinosaurs and insects. He had just started year 8 and enjoyed learning and had made some close friends.
Dominic will need to continue with his therapises to relearn everything again.
There is still a possibility that he could suffer from another life threatening AVM.
Dominic hopes to get back to youtubing, gaming and engaging in his hobbies as he did before. He will need a lot of support through this journey.
Please support follow amd support Dominic through his journey.
