Dominique & Ronald: A Story of Love, Sacrifice, and Hope

The Beginnings of a Fairytale

Dominique and Ronald Clark exchanged vows on December 31, 2021, promising to love each other through sickness and in health. Little did they know that this promise would soon be put to the test in a way they never imagined.

A Devastating Diagnosis

Just months after their wedding, Ronald received the devastating news that he was suffering from Stage 4 Kidney disease. The couple was faced with the harsh reality that a kidney transplant was the only option for Ronald to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

A Beacon of Hope

In a twist of fate, Dominique discovered that she was a match to be Ronald's kidney donor. However, there was a catch - they were not a perfect match. Despite this, Dominique decided to move forward with what is known as a "swap" program through Vanderbilt.

The Gift of Life

In the swap program, Dominique would donate her kidney to someone who was a closer match to Ronald. This selfless act would not only benefit the recipient of Dominique's kidney but would also place Ronald at the top of the list for a more compatible kidney, reducing the wait time for his transplant.

A Rare Blessing

Dominique and Ronald share the rare blood type O negative, making their match even more miraculous. This unique bond and compatibility have given them a glimmer of hope in the face of uncertainty.

A Journey of Love and Sacrifice

For almost a year, Dominique has been taking care of Ronald at home, administering his dialysis treatments. After receiving training to be able to give treatments at home, she has been a pillar of strength and support for Ronald during this challenging time.

Overcoming Challenges

Despite the hardships they have faced, Dominique is not eligible for paid leave from her job due to not meeting the one-year requirement. However, the American Disability Act protects her job and allows her to take unpaid leave to support Ronald during his recovery.

A Call for Support

As Dominique and Ronald continue on their journey towards Ronald's kidney transplant, they need the support and love of their community. Let's come together to help this incredible couple achieve the "Happily Ever After" that they truly deserve. Dominique is scheduled for surgery 6/18/2024.
