Don Baskerville
Don was diagnosed 2 years ago with Pleural Mesothelioma, a cancer caused by working with asbestos over 60 years ago. He was given a few months to live, but exceeded all medical expectations by 18 months!
For the last year, Don was unable to walk, and could rarely leave the house, but never complained and his great sense of humour remained until the very end.
We are raising money for St Wifreds Hospice in Eastbourne. They worked with the family to ensure Don's greatest wish of remaining at home until the end was fulfilled. They have been a constant advocate and support both for Don and the family.
St Wilfreds are not funded, and rely on donations to provide help, support and care for people with any progressive, advanced life-limiting illness. Care is delivered by a team that includes consultants in palliative medicine, specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counsellors and social workers.
We want to see a community where people talk openly about dying, live well until the end of their life and where nobody dies alone, afraid or in pain.
