Donal (Dodo) Mc Sweeney memorial fund
Donation protected
Donals wife, Siobhan, daughters Paula and Aoife and son in laws Liam and Donnagh would like to raise some money for the palliative care unit in Tralee.
We are all so grateful for the amazing care that Donal recieved throughout his illness especially in his final days in palliative care in Tralee.
Dr. Margaret Clifford and the whole team treated Donal with such care and respect and helped the whole family through Donals final journey.
There are 15 private rooms in this unit. Each room is ensuite.
From Donals bed, with the click of button he could adjust the temperature of the room, the lighting, open the window, listen to the radio and watch TV. Most importantly he felt comfortable and we all felt like it was a home away from home. The staff were always very welcoming and friendly.
While there we learned that that this unit was built by the Kerry Hospice Foundation (KHF) which cost 6.5 million euro. KHF have also committed to financially supporting the ongoing cost of the service for up to €400,000 in 5 years. Kerry Hospice Foundation depend on donations for the running of their services.
They provide for extra nursing staff in people's homes. Refurbishing hospice rooms in some community hospitals. Palliative care equipment, aids and appliances to enable people to live at home.
It is so important to support this service and we are so lucky to have such an amazing palliative care service in Kerry.
All proceeds will be given directly to Kerry Hospice Foundation to support palliative care services in Kerry in memory of our much loved husband and dad.
Thank you.
