Family of Donald Gephart, Dearborn United Dispatch 1185

On January 15th, the world lost an amazing father, husband, son, brother, and friend. Don served many years as an Inkster Police Reserve and then continued on to serving the citizens of Dearborn, Melvindale, Garden City, Wayne, Westland, and Inkster as an Emergency Dispatcher. He had a calming demeanor and was easy to talk to, but knew how to put his foot down and was able to take control of any situation that he was placed in. He cared deeply for the safety and well-being of all first responders and took great pride in helping those in the worst moments of their lives. A natural born leader, Don was also the Union Representative for the Dearborn United Dispatch Center and played a major role on our collaborative emergency response team. Don held my hand during some of the darkest moments in my personal life as well as my professional one and without him, I am not sure where I would be. He is my brother and my friend, not “just a dispatcher”.

Don leaves behind a beautiful wife, Kristen, and children, Amanda, Gregory, Kayley, Gavin, and Ian, along with his best four-legged friend, Sasha, who loved him more than anything. He was an unwavering supporter of his children, attending their school and sports events whenever he could. Donnie was the anchor of his family—a constant source of love, strength, and encouragement. His generous heart, dedication to his loved ones, and selfless service to his community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
