Donald J Douglas Jr was taken from us tragically, one week after his retirement while on holiday in Jamaica.
Donald was a devoted pubic servant and spent 35 years tirelessly working for the children of the City of New York at the NYC Department of Education.
From 2004 - 20021, Donald was the Executive Director of the Public Schools Athletic League where he helped countless NYC school children follow their sports dreams and ambitions. Donald was simply someone who made a difference: he expanded the league, introduced new sports (girls wrestling, double dutch and cricket - to name a few), raised the academic standards for all student athletes. In sum, Donald was a powerhouse. A gentle giant who never said no, was quick with a smile and a positive life force of good.
Donald was also a devoted father, son, brother, friend, mentor and avid golfer.
Donald never forgot where he came from and was always quick to honor Bushwick and his roots.
We all miss you Donald and we are simply heartbroken by your silence and absence.
The family will use all of the proceeds from this memorial fund to provide college scholarships for PSAL student-athletes in need.
