Donald & Julie Hart
Donation protected
On 10/2/2022 Donald was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. He ended up having surgery to remove the the mass and part of his colon, but his liver was already covered inside and out. He ended up filing for disability, which was only $1,500/mo and was on medicaid. Julie is his caregiver and because of the household income limit, could not work so he could be on disability and have his medical bills paid. In the meantime, Don has gone through 30 rounds of harsh Folfox chemo and had managed to contact the transplant group and was accepted, as long as he passed all the scans. He hasn't been able to have chemo since Oct 31st due to his bloodwork being so high. In the meantime he got jaundice, which was caused by a blocked bile duct due to cancer spreading to lymph nodes and pushing on the bile duct. He had another surgery on Dec 29th to have stents put in the bile duct. Unfortunately, this was the same day that the transplant group had scheduled all of his scans so he could be a recipient of a liver. Don had to reschedule the scans, which now aren't until Jan 26th. In the meantime Julie is scheduled for a right shoulder replacement on Feb 22 and 3 weeks later a right fusion of her right wrist. On Jan 9th they went to their normal Don oncologist appt and was told they are stopping all chemo because none of what they tried was working. The doctor gave him less than 6 months to live. Don has lost weight, sleeps a lot, still has jaundice in the eyes, numbers still high and loses his balance sometimes when he walks. The doctor can't put a time-line on his life could be 1 month or 5 months. Don has no life insurance and they are living on $1,500 a month, which doesn't cover anything. These funds are going to help catch up on past due bills, pay current bills, pay off some huge debt, cover any future memorial expenses and hopefully give him some of his last dying wishes (although that would be to meet Tom Brady, he knows that would never happen). Most of you know him from M&M Pit Stop Party Store. Thank you!
