Donald Mesman Jr. Family Support Fund For Holidays

Donald Mesman, Jr. was an integral part of the Nucor Steel Louisiana team and our Nucor family. Better known as “Don” to his Nucor family, he could be counted on to put others before himself. Sometimes serious in demeanor and expression, we would often hear him say, “I’m smiling on the inside!”.

Don was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Angie. They met when Angie was 15 years old and were blessed to have celebrated 33 years of marriage together. Don was the proud father of two sons, Donald Mesman III (age: 32) and Indy Han Mesman (age: 28). Don’s family was the focus of his world, and he was the center of their universe. Don loved motorcycles, beer and breweries, jazz music, traveling, and making friends.

A proud veteran, Don served in the U.S. Navy from 1990 through 1994. Making a home in Indiana, Don

worked in the food and beverage industry as part of the Kellogg and Pepsi teams. Wanting to provide more opportunities for his family, Don made the move to Louisiana to join Nucor Steel Louisiana in October 2019 as a mechanic. It didn’t take long for Don to make connections and friendships with the Nucor team.

Forming bonds throughout southeast Louisiana, Don never met a stranger and could make anyone feel at home. Whether in Convent or New Orleans, people flocked to his positive energy. His love for family extended into the Nucor family as he became an uncle and cheerleader for the sons and daughters of his fellow teammates, often being one of the first to show up to sporting events, celebrate accomplishments, or take them for a ride on his bike. We will forever miss hearing him say “Good morning, all you beautiful people!” but we know his smile is shining down on us. His memory will live on forever at Nucor Steel Louisiana and within the Nucor Family.
