Donald Mason Vietnam Documentary

Excited to be in the home stretch and needing funds to cross the finish line! I’m Melissa Terese Young and I am a Independent Documentary Film maker who up until this point has funded a true life Vietnam War story all by myself.
Donald P. Mason: Vietnam War Miracle is an inspiring story of a solider who sustained a traumatic brain injury when he was hit by shrapnel from a grenade in the Vietnam War 1969. He should have died. Instead, by some heroic efforts of the 146th & 196th his fellow platoon soldiers, he was miraculously rescued. He fell under the care of a gifted Neurosurgeon Dr. Harold F. Young who ultimately saved his life.
It took 41 years for Donald Mason along with his wife Donna to piece together the full story of his rescue, reunite with his fellow soldiers who played a major role in his survival and meet Dr. Young.
Donald Mason’s lived on to selflessly touch the lives of many and over the past 40 plus years of his life fostered 46 “failure to thrive” babies, established churches, volunteered for the Red Cross, Fire Department, Vietnam Veteran’s Association, and Mental health Facilities. Accomplishing all of this with loosing an estimated 30% of his brain due to his injury from the war.
It is an extraordinary heartfelt story of courage, a testament to humanity and in the end a reunion of healing for all Vietnam Veterans who lived a heroes journey.
The money will be used for final editing, purchasing much needed stock footage, music licensing, titles and travel to Missouri in June to premier the film!
And yes I said June to premier the film so hoping for all funds to be received over the next three weeks!
The story is near and dear to my heart not only for the role my dad, Dr. Harold F. Young played in saving Donald’s life but also for the amazing heroes I had the honor to meet making this documentary including Donald Mason, Gale "Bertha" Bertrand, and "Doc" John Brown to name a few.
The making of this film also supports the healing and awareness of our Vietnam Veterans and what they experienced.
I am in deep gratitude for any contribution which will help bring this film to life and I cannot wait to share my film with you.
Thank you so very much,
Melissa Terese Young
