End the violence, help Samuel make PEACE
Donation protected
I’m Mirella, and your donation will help to realize and cover organizational costs of peace education trainings in close cooperation with a local successful grassroots non-profit organization called PCR FOUNDATION (Peace & Conflict Resolution). The organization is an NGO and is run by Samuel Muderwha (founder & head of operations) and his wife Rachel Faida. It is located in Bukavu, in the war-torn Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. The foundation works on non-profit base towards sustainable Peace Building through scholarships for children, trauma healing for victims of war and peace education for people on the ground on community level.
Deadly conflicts and civil war took heavy tolls on the region, most people in the DRC are poor, and cannot afford even essential goods. Education and training are no exception, yet crucial to learn the skills to overcome conflict and to break the circle of violence caused by the horrors of war. Education offers potential for a way out of despair, and empowers self determination to establish a peaceful society where people can take charge of their destiny.
The PCR Foundation supports this with programs that offer training to community leaders from Bukavu and the East of DRC, who will then train others in their community. The training is free of charge for the participants and is conducted by volunteer trainers from the organization and (foreign) partner organizations.
I AM ONE OF THESE VOLUNTEERS
As a certified (and passionate) mediator, I support Samuel & Rachel in their cause through pro bono training, and through securing the pro bono support of other trainers. The training will focus on emotion management and non-violent communication to form peace agreements. For this, I will travel to Bukavu DRC in December. I will give my time and expertise for free; however, I cannot fund this ambitious endeavor alone.
I considered institutional funding, but didn't receive it. I therefore hope for your help.
This funding will also cover the costs of the training.
We plan with five days of training with 35 community leaders (physically present). A training hall is needed, supporting staff, training materials, online connection for remote trainers, food for about 35 people daily, transport and accommodation for ca. 15 people (from more remote areas of the Eastern Region of D.R. Congo) for the duration of the training.
TOGETHER WE CAN BREAK THE CIRCLE
People want to live in peace. The more local leaders have the required skills to promote a peaceful and stable environment, the more peace will spread to their community, which can flourish and offer future generations a place they can develop and call their home.
As a conflict resolution professional, I give my free time to trustworthy projects and causes worldwide that support non-violence and peace education.
I followed the PCR Foundation for years and saw their work and successful projects. They work responsibly and frugally with the means available. The organization has achieved strong acceptance in the area. It meets people's needs right at the pain points and helps them to build a better future.
The funds will be directed to my account and then paid to the PCR Foundation through RIA to ensure that only a minimum is lost due to currency exchange rates and fees. I will create full transparency on all fund transfers, as well as share photos and videos of the training itself.
Thank you all very much in advance!
Contact me if you want me to update you regarding my training in Bukavu.
