Restoring Mobility, Restoring Dignity

Imagine losing the ability to move freely just because your wheelchair has broken down, and you cannot afford repairs or a replacement. For over 850 people with disabilities, this is their harsh reality. Many are forced to crawl on the ground, enduring physical pain and emotional trauma as they navigate daily life. One such individual, Sarah, a young girl once full of hope and dreams, now spends her days crawling on dirt roads after her wheelchair broke down. She was forced to drop out of school, and her once-bright future seems dim. Without mobility, Sarah feels trapped in her own home, isolated from her community, and unable to participate in activities she once enjoyed.

Some wheelchairs have been discarded in landfills, contributing to environmental harm, while others lie abandoned under the verandas of grass-thatched houses, deteriorating as termites build hills around them. It's the harsh reality faced by many. It's time to restore their mobility, dignity, and hope.

We are raising funds to repair these essential mobility devices, restoring independence and dignity to those in need. Your donation will help us bring mobility back to hundreds of people and prevent further environmental damage.

Stories of Resilience and Hope

Florence’s Story Florence, a young girl with big dreams, was forced to miss three months of school when her pediatric wheelchair broke down. Without it, she had no way to reach her classroom. Our team managed to raise small funds to repair her wheelchair, and she joyfully resumed her education.

James’ Story James was once confined indoors, locked and tied to a tree trunk when his parents went to the garden, simply because he had no mobility aid. He was left to endure the scorching sun and heavy rains, unable to move or call for help. When we found him, his frail body bore the marks of his suffering, his tears silent witnesses to his pain. We rescued him and provided a new wheelchair. Today, James is back in school, full of hope for the future.

Georgina’s Story Georgina, a single mother and businesswoman, struggled when her wheelchair broke down. She had to crawl, carrying her products on her head just to make a living. On rainy days, she would sit helplessly, watching her merchandise get soaked, unable to save her livelihood. Even before it broke completely, Georgina used to ride her tricycle with flat tires, pedaling only on the rims, which made loud noises on the road as she pushed through the pain. Despite her disability, she also did gardening to feed her children, using her hands to pedal painfully long distances just to reach and harvest food before heading to the business center. After we repaired her tricycle, she restarted her business and even began saving for future wheelchair maintenance.

A Mother’s Desperation Among those in dire need is Lucy, a widow, a refugee mother from South Sudan whose 10-year-old son, David, lost his legs in a bomb explosion. Without a functioning wheelchair, Lucy had to carry him on her back wherever they went. Her tired body ached, but the pain of watching her child’s future slip away was far worse. When she learned that his wheelchair could be repaired, she wept with relief.
