Growing up in foster care, I never had the stability or guidance that so many others take for granted. When I turned 18, I was pushed into the real world without any proper support, left to navigate life on my own. This is my story, but it’s also the story of countless others who age out of the foster care system.

The reality is heartbreaking: within the first year of aging out, 81% of girls like me will find themselves pregnant, 71% of boys will end up incarcerated for survival crimes, and 97% of us will find ourselves living in poverty. My name is Taje ,and I am one of those statistics.

I recently shared my journey on 11Alive News, where I spoke about the struggles I’ve faced since losing my housing voucher. That voucher was my lifeline—a small piece of security in an otherwise unstable world. But now, without it, I’m struggling to find a safe place to live, to afford basic necessities, and to continue pursuing my dreams.

Despite everything, I haven’t given up hope. I’m reaching out to you because I believe that with your support, I can overcome these odds and build a better future. Here’s how your contribution will help:
