Donate for an Electric Wheelchair for Timothy

Hi, My name is Nancy Palliser I am from Inukjuak, which is in Northern Quebec. I am the mother to 4 wonderful young adult children. One of them, Timothy was born with physical diabilities and must rely on us for all of his daily needs. We would like to fundraise for an electric wheel chair that will allow Timothy to have some sense of independence. As a young 31 year old man, this will allow him to freely be out and about and explore on his own and go places where he wants to go, not only when he can be taken out. Having some sense of independence will improve Timothy's mental health and dignity.

Timothy did have an electric wheelchair in the past but it was not adapted to Northern living and terrain. After being caught in a flash rain storm during one of his outings, he barely made it home and his wheelchair was left unusable. Since 2016 he has relied on his family for every little outing. Because of his very limited use of one hand he will require a specifically adapted chair. We have already reached out to both the Federal and Provincial government, both of have basically made us go back and forth between departments without being able to help. We have also reached out locally but were informed that because of his age, they are unable to help us.

The money raised will go towards the purchase of a new chair, adjustments it will require to be specifically adapted to his limited mobility, and for the transportation of the chair to our community that can only be done by plane.
