Keep Casper Moving - Urgent ACL Surgery

Casper is a two year old Siberian Husky that we adopted on October 14th, 2024. He has truly completed our little family, and we love him immensely. He has changed our lives in so many ways, and we can not be more grateful to have found him thanks to the wonderful and amazing staff at HVARS (Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary).

When Casper was originally surrendered to HVARS, he needed quite a bit of medical attention. He had a defect in both of his hind legs, leading to the amputation of one and a required surgery on the other.

When we adopted him, they did inform us of the risks for later on in life that Casper may face. We just weren’t expecting them so soon.

On Sunday, March 30th, Casper seemed to be having severe mobility issues when it came to using his one hind leg. He didn’t seem to be whimpering in pain, but we could tell something was wrong. We decided to call his vet and get the soonest available appointment, which we scheduled for Monday, the very next day.

Upon bringing him to the vet the next day, we found out that he had torn his ACL in that one hind leg. With having previous surgeries on that leg, they wanted to run multiple tests and x-rays to make sure that none of the previous hardware they inserted had moved. They informed us the cost of the surgery can run up to $10,000.00. On top of the expense of the surgery, he is also going to require physical therapy for his leg afterwards, plus any medications he may need to take.

The expenses have piled up quite quickly, and we want to be able to provide the best care we can for our little man. Any donation small or large can and will help go towards all of Casper’s medical expenses.
