Colleen Lyder's Urgent Medical Needs

In the mid-November 2024, we had a concerning incident where Mom fainted and remained unconscious for approximately an hour. We rushed her to Seven Day Adventist Community Hospital where she stayed for nearly a week. During that time, we noticed significant swelling in her right knee. As many of you already know, she has been battling Rhumatoid Arthritis for 35 years which has caused severe pain and damage to her body, making her bones brittle, her skin like paper, and her overall health very compromised.

Regarding her knee, the Doctor ordered an ultrasound and while it was being done a small scab was accidentally tore off, causing the wound to begin draining. What started as a small hole quickly grew to three times its size and showed no signs of healing. This same knee was replaced 12 years ago. The Doctor continued to monitor the situation and eventually surgery was needed to clean and wash out the knee to prevent infection. The area was restricted, but due to the thinness of the skin around the knee, the knee reopened and became somewhat infected.

On Christmas Eve, the Doctor had to once again do minor surgery to try to keep it together, but to no avail. Now she requires another surgery which will include skin grafting. She will also need 24 hour care for some time after surgery.

Our prayer is that this will be successful and hopefully the last surgery.
