I was once where they are now.

My name is Patricia Muyanga Orti. My early life in the Democratic Republic of Congo was shaped by loss, displacement, and a level of hardship that no child should ever know. Growing up in an orphanage, I learned firsthand what it feels like when survival has to come before innocence.

For too long, the world has seen Congolese children through the wrong lens. We see them portrayed as soldiers, as miniature workers in mines, or as numbers in a tragedy. But they are not. They are, quite simply, children.

Children with favorite colors, children who want to play, children who deserve to imagine a future where they can be whatever they want to be. They deserve the right to dream.

MUYANGA is not just an idea; it’s my personal vow to them. It’s a response to a reality that needs to change, and a lifelong commitment to restoring what has been taken too early: dignity, protection, stability, and the pure joy of being a child.

We are focused on providing something as small yet as powerful as a notebook, a pen, or a book. We want to put essential learning tools in the hands of children living in vulnerable orphanages. Behind every blank page, there is a child waiting to write their own story a story of hope, not just survival.

Every notebook is a lifeline. Every contribution, big or small, can make a difference in a child’s life.

This work is not charity. It is restoration. It is about looking at Congolese children differently not as symbols of crisis, but as children full of potential.
