Donate to Janet Mayfield's Recovery

My mom, Janet Mayfield, is an incredible person who has devoted her professional career to the conservation and restoration of native Hawaiian plants. She was speaking about just this mission on Kaua’i at a fundraiser on Saturday night (8-17-2024) when, just after her speech, she collapsed with (what we now know to be) a rare type of brain aneurysm.
Since August 18th, my mom has beaten the odds at Queens Medical Center on O’ahu through surgery and their expert care, but now it is time for her to transfer to a mainland hospital for longer-term, specialized treatment.
I wish health insurance companies recognized the nuanced nature of my mom’s medical needs, but they are not willing to cover her transportation costs to/from the mainland, which requires a medical escort. Either way, we are doing it because she deserves the best care available and it is the right thing to do. That said, if you feel compelled to donate to assist us with her medical/transportation bills, it would be most appreciated. If there are any funds left unused after her medical and transportation costs are covered, then we will be donating the remainder to the National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG), whose mission is so important to my mom; I know she would have it no other way.
