Donate for John Webb's Wheelchair Accessible Van

Hello- my name is Dave Prichard. I am John Webb’s stepson. John and my mother Terese have been married for nearly 25 years. Two years ago, John experienced cardiac arrest that left him with limited mobility. For weeks after the incident John’s condition remained severe. Doctors were unable to give us a clear prognosis for John, and we didn’t know what the true extent of his injuries would be. Thankfully, John has persevered and improved considerably since then. At first, we struggled at times to understand him, but now John doesn’t just speak clearly- he even makes jokes! We are so grateful to have John back with us after everything that he went through.

John has a motorized wheelchair that enables him to travel short distances, but for vehicular transportation he must rely on a bus service that picks him up at the house. The bus schedule can be hectic, and John shares the service with other riders who have their own appointments. As a result, John sometimes arrives late or misses doctor’s appointments entirely. The service can charge up to $50 for each ride, which adds up quickly- especially if John has multiple appointments in a week.

For this reason, my mom Terese has been researching wheelchair accessible vans that could accommodate John. As you may be aware, these types of vans can be very expensive. With help from a family friend who has car-shopping experience, Terese has found a suitable option. However, the loan offered by her bank is $20,000 short of what is needed. After learning this from my mom, I decided to reach out to John’s community, friends, and family for assistance.

100% of the funds raised would go toward purchasing a wheelchair accessible van for John to use. Owning their own van would ensure that John makes it to all his doctor’s appointments on time and would reduce the stress my mom takes on when the bus service is unreliable. With a wheelchair accessible van John would be also able to get out into the world and have recreational opportunities that have been sorely lacking since his incident. I know that there are people who have been touched by John’s kindness who would like to see him have this opportunity. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated- or if you are unable, please share and spread the message. Thank you!
