Honor the legacy of Calvin Sparkman

On Saturday, April 13, Calvin entered a state of cardiac arrest in his home and was found unresponsive by his wife, Claudia. She immediately dialed 911 and while EMS services were in route, a call was made by Calvin and Claudia's younger daughter, Bre, to Brittany and Steven (Calvin and Claudia's older daughter and son in law) who live 7 houses away. Steven, a Fort Collins police officer, administered CPR until emergency services arrived. After resuscitation was taken over by emergency services, EMS was able to get a pulse on Calvin and had him transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado.

Upon arrival to the hospital, many tests and procedures were administered to help determine a cause for Calvin going into cardiac arrest. So far there is still not a clear answer for what happened. Calvin was placed in a medically induced coma to help his body heal since it was undetermined how long his body was without oxygen. On Thursday April 18th, it was determined by Calvin's medical team that his frontal cortex had irreversible catastrophic damage. This area of the brain affects your personality, memories, and core parts of you as a person. It was Calvin's wishes in his will to not be left in a poor quality of life position. He was also an organ donor and over the course of the next few days matches for organ donation will be determined before life support is removed. Please continue to pray for Claudia, Bre, Brittany, Steven, and the grandbabies as they continue to navigate this process.

Calvin has always been a hero and provider to many, this legacy will live on through his organ donation and the legacy he leaves through his family and grandchildren. This Go Fund Me has been establish to help with costs of the funeral, medical bills, on-going home care for Claudia, and all of the "unknown" expenses in an unexpected situation such as this.
