Donate in memory of Deirdre Staunton, proceeds to the ILCC.

My name is Meadhbh Donaghy, I am the daughter of the late Deirdre Staunton who passed away November 2023 after a two and half year battle with Lung Cancer.

On the 24th of August a group of Deirdre’s family, neighbours and friends will be taking part (walking/running) in the annual Warriors run in Strandhill. All funds we raise will go to the Irish Lung Cancer Community (ILCC).

The ILCC empowers all those affected by lung cancer through the provision of education, information and support. The ILCC also works to promote more positive perceptions about the disease.

Deirdre during her illness became an outspoken advocate for the ILCC. When she was first diagnosed there was little information online that she could turn to for advice. She worked tirelessly to get a website up and running for the community becoming the executive officer on the committee. Poignantly, this website was launched the week before her passing.

As Deirdre herself loved to take part in this annual race we thought this would be a lovely tribute to do in her memory.
