It's with a heavy heart that we announce that the rider DOUGLAS HART who was subject to a huge search effort on Monday evening was located and had passed away. The community rallied together like I very rarely see to find him and this is not the end result that we were hoping for.
Your world can be turned upside down in an instant as I'm sure his grieving partner and family is today.
Below is the last photo Cameron from Visceral Visuals took of him as he passed through the S Bends on one of his favourite places to ride at Mount Glorious, on what was to be his last trip there.
(“It’s rather unsettling looking at this image now knowing that I was one of the last to see him - wish he had stopped to say hello this time. Rest in peace Doug” said Cameron)
Many of us in the motorcycle community either new Doug, met him, sat at the café for a chat with or had crossed paths somewhere along the way out riding.
Doug was a friend to many but kept a lot to himself also. That being said, we “The Motorcycle group Brisbane which Doug was a part of and supported many new and seasoned riders , Moto Magic Inc a non profit incorporation have set up this go fund me in hopes to raise much needed funds to help Doug’s family with funeral and memorial costs and rally support at this much difficult time.
if you can give a little or a lot we and Doug’s family will be very appreciative..
funeral details will be announced.
- My name is Suzanne Birch I run a free Facebook group called The motorcycle group brisbane we share group rides, events and generally meet other riders who want to share the passion of motorcycling. This is where I met Douglas. He offered to help learn riders in our group, and often met up with members for rides a chat at his favourite cafe at mount glorious after a ride . Douglas and I became friends and often chatted about rides and bikes, we were planning to attend a track day together. I was in awe of Doug’s motorcycles and so excited when he bought his red Ducatti. I’ve always loved them.
I also created a non profit organisation recently called Moto magic Inc, the purpose behind our club is to help educate riders on the importance of continuing training and skills regarding motorcycles. We are planning to hold charity events and fund raisers to be able to assist riders of the community to be able to attend these courses at a reduced cost through subsidies training by the TMR and government grants as well as using funds raised to be able to assist families in need after the loss of a loved one due to motorcycle accidents just like this one.
We are only a new organisation so our funds are low, which is why we decided to organise a go fund me for Doug’s family to assist with funeral costs, and support after losing their loved one. And are so grateful for the outpouring of support this far.
Dougs sister Patricia and I have been talking closely since the accident and I am blessed to be able to organise this go fund for their family, once the fund is closed Patricia will be able to use the funds for funeral costs or anything relating to the memory and support of Doug’s family.
thank you for all that you can give.
