Donate in memory of John A. Buchanan

John Austin Buchanan, 57 of Brick passed away on January 7, 2025 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. He was born in New York, NY and lived in Brick all of his life.

John was a member at St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant.

John was a loving husband, father, son, and beloved football coach. He loved helping his patients with Chiropractic and he loved making people laugh as a stand-up comedian. He was a standout football player throughout his high school and college careers and went on to become a beloved coach and mentor to many. Outside of football he enjoyed lifting weights and training martial arts. He was a huge personality that always made people around him laugh. He was a great son who loved his mother very much. He loved all of his dogs and was great with animals. He was always so excited and proud to watch his sons play football. He was also very understanding and looked out for those in need. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand or be shoulder to cry on and will truly be missed

He is predeceased by his mother Joan Darling Buchanan.

John is survived by his loving wife Melody Buchanan, sons, Johnny Buchanan, Christian Buchanan, wife Karley, Ryan Buchanan and Michael Buchanan, father, James E. Ousley, and brother Jim Buchanan, wife Sandy.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1pm-4pm with a religious service to begin at 3:30pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, NJ 08724. Burial will take place on Monday, January 13, 2025, 11am at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Please meet directly at the cemetery.
