Donate in memory of Kaden Jeffrey Allen

Hi, my name is Laura Milne, I am fundraising for the recent passing of my 23-year-old son on Christmas Day Dec. 25, 2023. It will be a very difficult time for me while grieving and trying to coordinate everything such as the funeral, travel, etc. I'm truly at a loss for words and I wake up every day in complete shock that he was taken so young. I can't believe it's real. In this journey to close his accounts, gather his things from another province, organize the cremation and attend a celebration of life in another province, work with the coroner, etc. It's just too much. I'm surprised I'm still standing and I do so for my two living sons age 18 and age 8 along with my boyfriend and close family members. I am taking medication to get through all of this as well as attending counselling sessions. Kaden died in his sleep and the cause is unknown, his best friend found him on the couch in a sitting position on boxing day. (at my request to go into the apartment via an open window). What he saw, he should not have seen. I am so forever grateful to Brady Fenn and Sarah Sexsmith for helping me find Kaden when he would not answer his phone for the entire day on Dec. 25th. I had a vision that he had died in his sleep that day, and my worst nightmare was sadly true. I appreciate anyone's help in this, as I'm self-employed and do not get paid for time off work. I continue to work while going through this and it's hard. I'm using funds from my line of credit to pay for travel expenses, funeral expenses, cover my income etc. Your generosity will never be forgotten. Much love!

Costs to date:

1. WestJet Return Flight: $1600

2. Cremation $3100

3. Luggage costs and UPS - $800

4. Time off work - 14 days $2250 (I'm self-employed)

5. $55 vital statistics will search

6. Airport food $75

7. Cremation jewelry/urn to keep him close; $2350 

8. Alberta / Kelowna nicknacks for remembering him $110

9. Counselling to date $359 (I don't have coverage)

10. Anti-depressant to date $250 (no coverage)

11. Rent request from the landlord for half of last month's rent so we could gather all of Kaden's things for $600. Last Month's rent had not been paid, only a damage deposit.

$11,549 so far and we are home from B.C. with Kaden’s ashes and his things. 

That's all I can think of for now. For his 2023 tax return, I believe there will be a small refund and nothing owing, hopefully.
