Celebration of Life - Khalil "KP" Jamal Phillips
Donation protected
Khalil Phillips was a natural athlete who took to cycling a few years ago and immediately rode into the hearts of many. A 2005 graduate of Benjamin E. Mays High School, Khalil majored in Psychology at Alabama State University, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc., and pursued his master’s degree at Troy State University before returning to Atlanta to excel in fitness and bodybuilding. “KP” found community with Atlanta’s many cycling clubs – from beer rides for beginners to tearing up the streets in alley cats and crit races – and his smile, laughter and conversation were as motivating as his physical abilities.
On Thursday, March 30th, 2023, our brother parted ways with this world; but his soul, his light, his laughter and his kindness will never leave us. Khalil’s final transition is imminent, as he remains on life support for the purpose of helping others. Khalil was an organ donor, and in the midst of this tragedy, may we find solace in knowing, that he served and sacrificed for others until and beyond his last breath.
As all of Atlanta’s peloton prepares to say goodbye to Khalil, we ask for your support in giving him a KOM (King of the Mountain) send-off. Khalil’s family is accepting donations to cover his transition services and life celebration, and anything you can contribute is appreciated. KP was not only a bright thread in Atlanta’s cycling fabric but also a community activist, brother, son and friend who will be dearly missed.
