Robert Benjamin Marino, age 40, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away suddenly on April 23, 2024. His loss was unexpected, and his family is profoundly saddened.

Robert was born on December 29, 1983, in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents, Ben and Kimberly Marino. He was the oldest brother to sister, Christina, and brother, Peter. He excelled in art at an early age and won awards in the 12 and under category two years in a row. Starting in the water at 6 months, he grew to love swimming with the Butterfly stroke being his favorite. He also loved animals and being outside. In 1996, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he attended Eagleview Middle School and then Air Academy High School.

After receiving a diploma, he worked as a sales associate for Nissan in Eugene, Oregon, before he moved back to Colorado Springs to work at Woodmen Nissan, and shortly thereafter, Heuberger Subaru. He quickly rose to the top and was a Top 25 Salesperson for the Denver zone every year. This culminated with him as a manager of the online sales division for Heuberger Subaru. He took his skills to Champion Windows in 2021 as a factory representative. Within his first year at Champion Windows, his skills were unstoppable and applauded. He won the Achiever’s Award, coming third nationally for sales volume in 2022 and 2023. He was on track to win another award in 2024. Throughout his sales career, he gave many friends a chance to rise up with him. He was very accepting of everyone who needed a helping hand, no matter the cost to him. He relished in their success as much as his own. In his spare time, he enjoyed souping up his Jeep Wrangler and 4-wheeling the biggest boulders you can imagine. He also shared his love of video games as a streamer on Twitch.

After always wanting to be a father, he welcomed his pride and joy, Jaxton Benedetto, in 2019. He loved fostering the creativity of his son and embracing the silliness until they ended up in each other's arms. He had crossed paths with his soulmate, Bonnie Elizabeth Nugent, when they were in second grade at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Baltimore, Maryland. They reconnected in March 2023 and were married on December 11, 2023, adding two more members to the Marino family, Bonnie, and her daughter, Hunter Grace Holliday. His creativity re-emerged as he started writing and reading poetry to express love for his family that had no limits, no matter the distance. He is predeceased by his two dogs, Blue and Congo, and his cat, Sox. He leaves behind a pack of dogs to help take care of his family, Mac, Wheeler, Winnie, Colt, and Ellis.

Robert is survived by his wife, Bonnie Marino; parents, Ben and Kimberly; son, Jaxton Marino (age 4); stepdaughter, Hunter Grace Holliday (age 5); younger sister, Christina Marino (Robert Gonzalez); younger brother, Peter (Christina) Marino and children, Finley, Lina, and Milo; his close friends, John Fraughton, Jared Pence, and Tony Baca; and Jaxton’s nanny, Charlita Elliot.

Robert will be remembered for his quick wit and sharp mind, always remembering every detail. He had the biggest heart you could ever know, and a bear hug that made everything bad seem to melt away. He was kind and gentle. He was always there for a friend in need. Robert’s sincere eyes, endless love, contagious laugh, and wild spirit will always be remembered and missed for eternity.

A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at 235 Ravenglass Way, Colorado Springs, CO, 80906 on May 5th, 2024 from 11 am to 3 pm. All are welcome to come at any point during that time to share stories of Robert’s life. In lieu of flowers, cards, or gifts, please consider donating to help his family navigate this time without him.
