Dear friends, family, and community,
Our beloved Serena, a devoted mother of two beautiful boys ages 7 and 10, unexpectedly passed away from a blood clot in her lungs at the age of 31 on Thursday, April 21st.
Serena was a powerful woman who endured many adversities throughout her life. Her adolescence was faced with challenges unimaginable to most. Although faced with those hardships, she was at the same time met with open arms from many loving friends. She found her strength and became determined to practice healing, forgiveness, faith and love.
Her trials and tribulations are what made Serena truly beautiful. Nothing that life threw at her could stop her from being filled with laughter, joy, and positivity. The amount of resilience it must have taken for her always to remain a bright light shining in that darkness is genuinely inspirational. She was a faithful warrior to God.
You couldn't write about Serena without mentioning her love for music and dance. This was her most incredible form of self-expression. She would dance anywhere anytime, with or without music. Serena's spirit allowed people around her to open up and show their goofy side. A rare quality that will never be forgotten.
Being a mother to Damien (10) and Dominik (7) was Serena’s life work and joy. Instilled with a fiery passion for showing them what true love is like for a child. She poured everything into seeing her boys grow. These two children are brilliant, kind, and loving. Even at such young ages, you can see how they inherited Serena's strong sense of empathy.
Damien gets good grades in school, with his favorite subject being math. He is talented with music and enjoys learning to play the piano, violin and saxophone. Aside from that, he loves playing video games. Damien hopes to learn the skills to create his own animations someday. If you were to talk to him, you would notice how calm and gentle he is, qualities that come from his mother. Combined with the strength and hard work passed down from his father, Kevin, he is on his way to becoming a great man.
Dominik is an energizer bunny who loves anything action and especially karate. He likes to act and dance to all different styles of music like his mother. Dominik is eager to learn in and out of school. Enjoys being supportive and is ready to help at every chance possible. Playing games with his older brother Damien makes him happy. He is an actual social butterfly with a silly, lighthearted personality like his father, Chris. He is going to be one charismatic gentleman.
As you could imagine, these boys miss their mother dearly. This tragic event will be a defining factor in their character and the outcome of their life. The transition will be difficult and expensive.
Serena's passing has brought our family, friends, and community together. We want to do everything in our power to focus on completing Serena's life work of giving her young boys the good life they deserve. And to help them during these trying times.
In addition to the existing support being provided by family & friends, Our goal is to raise enough donations for the costs of Serena's remembrance services and to help fund savings accounts for the children’s overall futures and healthy development.
Thank you for reading about our beloved Serena and her boys, whether you're family, a friend, or a stranger.
We are so grateful for your donations and any social media shares that can help bring further awareness to our cause. So many great people are dedicated to these children, and anything you provide will be put to great use.
