Shannon was a lively and active person. Every morning, she woke up at five in the morning to go to CrossFit and, when the weather permitted, she would go to the Morton Arboretum every single time and, honestly, even if the weather was not great. The gloomiest day could never dim her light and the brightest days could never outshine her. She was like the sun: radiant, glowing and brilliant. Shannon loved to explore and dedicate time to read the info cards placed on every single tree. She admired them and accepted them regardless of the imperfections seen on the trees. This irreplaceable love carried with her with every single person she knew. “Your flaws are perfect for the heart that is meant to love you”. And, oh man, she loved hard. She loved you.
The Morton Arboretum was one of her happy places.
In honor of Shannon, we wanted to honor her spirit by dedicating a tree in her name at the Morton Arboretum. This tree will be a way for others to experience the joy that she once had going here and, most importantly, the joy that she brought to the lives that she touched. Please consider donating, and when you start to miss her then visit her.
Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others.
