Donate Legal Funds to Secure Safety for Vaughan Children

I, Ashley Lynn Vaughan, am starting this page to help protect my four sweet children. We have been through a lot this last year, and the many years prior. July of 2023 I finally left my abusive husband with my children. We stayed at an abuse prevention shelter while I was granted back emergency custody (from when I tried to leave him the year prior). We have since settled in Jonesville, NC. My children have wonderful teachers, doctors, and therapists, as well as an amazing community out here. They excelled in school, and are doing a lot better in terms of how happy they are most of the time. Since leaving Oakboro/Stanfield/Red Cross in Stanly County, we have been having our family law case pushed out again and again. I was finally able to get it sent to Yadkin County where we reside, and now with our many CPS cases, police reports, CMEs, and much more, our case is complicated. We have yet to get our restraining orders. We have yet to get child support or alimony. We have yet to get a home outside of my parents spare bedroom (and they open the whole home to us, but a family of 5 in a one bedroom is hard on the kids). We have been able to get things my children need, clothes & shoes for each season, school supplies last year, toiletries, and we have food stamps. With all of those things being funded by the wonderful parents and a few contributions from fa ily and friends and the community programs for the less fortunate, I am spent on Lawyer fees. I am making this because trying to represent myself is not going to help our case. 15k gone and no lawyer now as things get more complicated, I o ly have enough for maybe a couple consultations. Nobody I have seen or spoken to will take my case with a payment plan. Legal aid can not help as all of our things (50B restraining order for myself and 4 children, permanent custody, separation, division of property, alimony, child support, domestic violence, abuse, child abuse, ect) have been looped into a special set aside date and they can't help with cases like that. I am making this because a few people have mentioned maybe they can help financially. I have made ways to support my children and myself with family we live with. What I really need help with is affording a decent attorney so that things go properly, as the other side has a team of lawyers who have even more lawyers called into the case (when I call around and hear conflict of interest). I need to get enough together for a decent lawyer, their retainer fee, a trust, and the funds they will ask for after those run dry which happens quickly with the work load of this mess of a case. Every little bit helps. I will be happy to try and set up payment plans when I do get child support ect. I am desperate for help right now, though. It means the world to me to even have the team of people joining in prayer for us. I believe it makes a world of difference. This is the other way to help if you have funds to spare. Thank you.
