Donate time or money to help Lt Amanda Isenberg

Amanda and I have known each other for almost 10 years. During that time we were not only co-workers but we grew to know each other as friends. Today, I’m proud to say that she is one of the closest friends I’ve ever had.

Not only have I gotten to know her through different get togethers and work promotions, but I’ve gotten to know her through the most memorable times in both of our lives.

Those moments range from happiness, laughter, and excitement from both of us getting promoted twice together, to starting our forever relationships, to the birth of her daughter and her becoming a mother. To tears, endless supportive hugs, and sadness from losing our friends from suicide during Covid, the hardships and loss we face daily on this job, as well as this rollercoaster of emotions that we had to endure in our personal lives through difficult times.

She is always the voice of reason, even if it naturally takes her 3 hours to finish 1 story. She is someone that always finds the light in the darkest of situations and a level support you never knew you needed until you experienced it first hand.

I’ve seen how she goes over leaps and bounds for her members, co-workers, her daughter, and her family. Not only as a supervisor or a mother, but as a protector. Amanda is always the biggest supporter and protector of everyone that ever crosses her path. That’s just the person she’s always been.

Like so many others in FDNY EMS, Go Fund Me has been a way to help support our friends and co workers when we have had no other means to do so. We are not protected with unlimited sick leave or some of the other benefits that other first responders have in New York City. It’s a forever battle trying to get the benefits we deserve as life savers and first responders in this city.

With that, and as reluctant as Amanda is to ever ask others for help, today, she needs our help.

While on her way home from an overtime shift, her car lost control and she ended up with multiple injuries. Luckily, nothing life threatening. However, those injuries will keep her out of work for the next few months or longer.

Like so many of us, Amanda has a family to support and bills to pay. She is out of time within the department and she is attempting to apply for different avenues to keep her on her medical benefits and payroll.

If you can or are willing to help, any amount of donations is very much appreciated to keep her afloat while recovering from her injuries.

If you have any extra time that you would like to donate, please, reach out to the EMS Station 03 Captain and he can assist you in time donations.

Any Sick leave donation would give Amanda 1/2 of that time and any Annual leave donation is day for day.

Your support is greatly appreciated and on behalf of Amanda and her family, we thank you very much for everything you do.

Stay safe out there. Today and always.
