I feel helpless. And this is a way I think we can help. My brother, his wife, their son, and their two animals are stranded in their home. The hurricane destroyed all but their basement and knocked down the trees all around them. They live in a remote area of Asheville, NC. The only bridge that leads to their area has been destroyed. They do not have power, cell service, gas, or water. Several neighbors have pooled their resources, and they were able to get a satellite phone to call for help, but it too is almost out of power. Briana’s dad was transported by ATV right as the hurricane started after a serious injury where he broke his neck, nose, and teeth. He is currently in ICU but is expected to live. Since then, all roads in and out of the area have been destroyed. We have notified authorities and are praying that they will at least get water and food soon. He says they spent the last two days just trying to clear the driveway, and they still have miles to go before anyone can attempt to get out or in.
I know there are so many families right now like mine, but if we all pool together, we can make a difference. How can you help?
1. Pray. Please pray for my family and all of the others affected. Pray that they will get resources and shelter.
2. Give. I’m sure financial support will make a difference once they make it out. Briana works as a fitness coach at a local studio, and the studio is no longer standing. I can’t imagine she will be able to work for a while. And I have no idea how long until they get financial help to rebuild.
3. Share. Please share this with others. We appreciate you so much.
