Support Victoria’s Fight: Donate to Aid Her Recovery

Hello, my name is Britney Ellis, and I’m a single mother of four beautiful children. On Friday, September 13th, I received a call from my youngest daughter Victoria’s school saying she needed to be picked up immediately. Victoria is only 6 years old, and when I rushed her to the emergency room, doctors ran tests and gave us devastating news: Victoria had a tumor on her brain the size of a tennis ball—that day changed our lives forever.

Doctors performed emergency surgery that night to insert a drain in her brain, hoping to relieve the pressure and pain caused by a dangerous build-up of spinal fluid. We were told that removing the tumor was critical, and on Tuesday, September 17th, she underwent a high-risk surgery. The procedure was successful, but Victoria lost a significant amount of blood, and a substantial amount of blood remained in her ventricle.

By Saturday, September 21st, the medical team believed Victoria was stable enough to have the drain removed and considered discharging her. But I started to notice concerning changes in my baby: the left side of her face began to droop, she seemed constantly exhausted, and she screamed out in pain. I felt fluid building up again near her surgery scar and it became mushy in texture. I insisted on further tests, and another CAT scan revealed what I feared—the fluid was returning, which led the doctors to decide that they needed to place the drain plug back in her brain.

On October 2nd, Victoria underwent her fourth brain surgery in just 20 days to place a shunt—a permanent drain—to regulate the pressure. The surgery went well, but the doctors are still unsure if the shunt will remain in its current place or need to be moved. She can’t return to school for the foreseeable future, and even after we leave the hospital, she will require 24-hour care. To make things even harder, we still don’t know if her tumor is cancerous or benign.

This journey has been a nightmare, but we’re holding on to hope. Victoria is a true fighter, but we need support to get through this incredibly difficult time. I haven’t been able to return to work and have no idea when that will be possible. If you find it in your heart to help our family, no contribution is too small. Your generosity will go directly toward Victoria’s ongoing care and supporting our family’s needs during this uncertain and heartbreaking time.

Thank you for your prayers, love, and support as we fight to give Victoria the future she deserves.
