Bear and the Honey's New Beginning
Donation protected
Over the past 10 months, Bear and the Honey has been in an uphill battle. When we found our spot at 777 E Thunderbird Rd, we did not anticipate the unbelievable struggle we would go through. We signed a temporary lease until we could find a permanent place. The person who issued the lease posed as the owner of the plaza. Leading to financial discrepancies such as equipment, construction costs, and various expenses, we were defrauded out of over $60,000. This put us through multiple challenges throughout the year. We notified the local police and the Attorney General of everything that was happening but we were simply brushed off to fend for ourselves. Thankfully, the other tenants got us in touch with the real owner to alert him of the mischief happening to us and his property. Despite our repeated notifications to the actual owner about the situation, little action was taken to resolve the matter. We made several attempts to negotiate terms for major property improvements and we were met again with no response from the owner. We broken heartedly made the decision that this place was no longer safe for us to operate out of. We also did not want to work with a negligent landlord who could care less about his property let alone his occupied tenants.
The light at the end of the struggle tunnel. Dear friends of ours got in to their landlords ear about our story, as there is a vacant turnkey space available in their plaza. This new space is a fresh new beginning for Bear and the Honey. The landlords are present and live in AZ part-time, they support their tenants and their dreams. All of the tenants have nothing but kind words to say about them. With that said we would love to make this new space our new home. In order for us to move forward we have to recover from the loss of being defrauded. We are kindly asking for $25,000 to help us with permits, minor construction and initial operating cost. This amazing new spot will now allow us to function the way we originally wanted to at 777. We will be roasting our own coffee, fresh roasted coffee beans for purchase, our menus will be expanding, increased amount of pastries daily, and...we will be transferring the current liquor license in to our name. Can you say mimosas?! The dream is still here and it will not be diminished by those who wish to see us fall. We are here to serve the Moon Valley community as they have welcomed us with open arms, and warm hearts. We thank everyone so much for all of the support and love and we can't wait to welcome you in our new space soon!
