Beau Fanean is a gorgeous, sweet, gentle, and adventurous 9 year old pup with a heart of gold. He may be 80 lbs, but nothing melts his heart like cuddling with his massive teddy bear, Stacey. Beau was preparing to head out with his mama Lauren for a travel nursing contract in Arizona, ready to hit the mountains and do some hiking. Then, on January 13th, the unthinkable happened. After noticing some firmness in his belly, Lauren took him to the vet just to be safe. After an x-ray, the vet told Lauren he had a massive tumor in his abdomen, bigger than a football. They did not know if it would be operable.

Thankfully, Lauren was able to get him in with the emergency vet the next day, where they were able to get a better idea of what the tumor was attached to. They decided it was operable, and rushed him back to surgery. The vets ended up removing a 9 lb tumor, his spleen, and enlarged lymph nodes. For reference, a gallon of milk is 8 lbs! They have sent the tumor and lymph nodes for testing to determine if it is cancerous and we are anxiously awaiting those results. So far, Beau is in good spirits and is being monitored over night at the vet. We are hopeful he will make a full recovery and be back to hiking by mom’ s side in no time.

Lauren and I became friends when my roommate and I decided to open our spare bedroom to a travel nurse. The three of us became best friends, and the same happened with our three dogs. Beau is a brother to our pups and a third son to us. This news breaks our hearts. We wanted to make this gofundme for Lauren to help with the enormous vet bills she is facing for Beau’s surgery and the additional costs associated with imaging, medication, bloodwork, and overnight vet stays.
