My name is Ana Ortiz, I am a Critical Care Nurse, a frontline responder for Covid patients, but now its time for me to take care of my Mom..
My Mom, Benita Rivera is recovering/healing at home following a series of medical events triggered by blood clots. She suffered a stroke, heart attack and on December 3rd, 2020 had to undergo Emergency Vascular Surgery that luckily saved her legs. My mom is a strong woman, a fighter! A hardworking single mother, who continues to fight at soon to be age 80. She is an independent, confident woman with a positive attitude and a not easily surrendered spirit.
She has been in and out of the hospital since the 3rd for wound treatments including: surgeries, debridements and placement of wound vac. Her high risk factors such as age, diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and heart failure create challenges which delay the healing process.
She is now receiving home care services; Physical therapy/Occupational therapy and Nursing, but the multiple hospitalizations/surgeries have left my Mom debilitated, deconditioned and with multiple pressure ulcers. She is unable to do any activity of daily living without my help. She cannot walk and due to the location of her wounds, it is a necessity to medically transport to her doctor's appointments via stretcher.
This is where I need your help, medical transportation costs are not covered by Mom's insurance. The expenses are climbing and I am not currently working at this time. I need your help to alleviate this financial stress while I help my Mom to recover and heal in the comfort of her own home.
