Donate to Brazil flood victims

We are raising money here at Melbourne Street this weekend to help the victims and families of the floods in the south of Brazil. Our lovely waitress, Fernanda, and her partner Vinny have been personally affected with their families among those who have been displaced.

Southern Brazil has been hit by the largest ever floods, leaving dozens of towns submerged. The extreme weather has been caused by a rare combination of hotter than average temperatures, high humidity and strong winds.

Emergency crews are still struggling to rescue trapped residents with the floods reaching meters high. More than 120 thousand people have been displaced, most of whom lost everything and are now in shelters improvised at schools, churches and gymnasiums. They are in need of potable water, food, clothes, hygiene products and medicine.

The money we raise will help fund the volunteers and organizations working at the frontline to provide the victims with their basic needs.

All donations are much appreciated and will go a long way in helping our friends and family in Brazil.

Este fin de semana estamos recaudando dinero aquí en el Melbourne Street para ayudar a las víctimas de las inundaciones en el sur de Brasil. Nuestra camarera Fernanda y su pareja Vini han sido personalmente afectados con sus familiares entre los desplazados.

El sur de Brasil fue afectado por las mayores inundaciones de la historia, dejando decenas de ciudades sumergidas. El clima extremo ha sido causado por una rara combinación de temperaturas más altas que el promedio, alta humedad y fuertes vientos.

Los equipos de emergencia siguen luchando para rescatar a los residentes atrapados mientras las inundaciones alcanzan metros de altura. Más de 120 mil personas han sido desplazadas, la mayoría de las cuales lo perdieron todo y ahora se encuentran en refugios improvisados en escuelas, iglesias y polideportivos. Les falta agua potable, comida, ropa, productos de higiene y medicinas.

El dinero recaudado irá ayudar a financiar a los voluntarios y organizaciones que trabajan en primera línea para atender a las necesidades básicas de las víctimas.
