Help Cheralyn Fight Cancer

In May of 2021 our dear friend, Cheralyn Pond was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. After barely surviving two rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, she decided to forgo continued treatment due to the unbearable effects it had on her body, leaving her pretty stable until this year

In March she fell, breaking her humerus bone leaving her suddenly sedentary which caused a blood clot in her legs. In April, she was rushed to the emergency room because she couldn’t breathe. They found that she had a pulmonary embolism. The clot had moved from her legs to her lungs. Then, on June 25th she was again struggling to breath and was hospitalized for pneumonia.

Upon the initial scan, the doctors could immediately see that the cancer had spread into her bones, lungs, liver, and lymphatic system. Her left lung has collapsed, leaving her with a damaged right lung. Despite continued treatment and oxygen, breathing is becoming more and more difficult by the day.

Her only caretaker, her daughter Jacie, has been under an enormous amount of grief and stress trying to make ends meet and figuring out the logistics of the future while watching her mom’s cognitive abilities and capacity to breath quickly deteriorate. With medical bills surmounting, they will soon not have the funds to cover regular expenses and basic needs. Hospice is in place, however they do not provide the level of care Cheralyn needs. Once Jacie goes back to work, Cheralyn will need full time care which Medicaid will not cover. This expense at minimum will be $1,200 a week.

Cheralyn has blessed us and so many others over the years with her time, gifts, generosity and unconditional friendship. She has always gone out of her way to give and serve in extraordinary ways, never seeking recognition. We are asking for your love and financial support on behalf of our dear friends during this time.
