As many of you know, Chip Whitley is battling COVID-19 and has now been in the hospital for more than 30 days. With Chip being ill and self-employed, he is struggling with health and overwhelming financial issues.
While I know that Chip is probably not going to like anyone asking for help on his behalf, we (his family and friends) are asking for any financial assistance that you may be able to provide him and his family, large or small, it all adds up quickly especially in tough times.
For those that do not know Chip, well he is usually on the giving end when it comes to charity. He has a decade of volunteer service to both the Boy Scouts and to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he serves on the Commercial Exhibits Committee. He often helps someone in need build or repair things at their house or referred a good sub-contractor to a friend or colleague. Now is your chance to help someone who has always been there for others.
Having been attacked by this virus so unexpectedly, Chip and his family have found themselves in a spot that I am certain they never prepared for and Chip needs our collective and compassionate help.
This is such an uncertain time for Chip and his family. If you are blessed enough that you can help financially, please donate whatever you can; no donation is too small - it all adds up.
I am confident that Chip will prevail in this battle, as I have witnessed his self-determination firsthand. I will leave you with a triumphant moment that I shared with him at the end of a season of training and 180 miles of pedaling over 2 days.
