Help Support Demi's Dream: Empowering People and Pets

Donation protected
By now, most of you know about my passion for abandoned dogs. You may also be aware of Blake’s passion for underprivileged people and those experiencing homelessness. We are thrilled to announce that we are combining our two passions into one mission.

We have been working for most of this year on developing Demi’s Dream, a non-profit program to offer training to dogs whose families are experiencing homelessness and those moving into transitional housing!

Statistics show that up to 20% of those living on the streets also own pets. Many of these people have reported foregoing housing opportunities because they would have to leave their pets behind. The bond between these pet parents and their fur babies is essential to their physical and mental health and we are looking forward to helping improve this sad issue.

The mission of Demi’s Dream is to help build bonds and transform the lives of people and their dogs who are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity. We aim to use training to help individuals build self-confidence, develop marketable skills, and create a safer environment for the dogs and the community at large.

It has been a huge learning experience to get where we are currently. At this point we are applying for non-profit status, which is an expensive and intense process, while also developing the curriculum and creating a list of supplies and locations needed to begin our work.

We are asking our friends, family and their extended networks to help us make a difference in the lives of our neighbors by contributing whatever you can to our efforts and sharing this to your social media channels. Just $5 from everyone on our Friends list would get us to our goal! This money will go toward completing the application process and purchasing the equipment (and many dog treats) necessary to begin our training. It is no small endeavor and there are a lot of steps to get us where we want to be. With your help, we will be able to implement this life-changing program sooner rather than later.

Our goal is to workshop this in Austin and eventually make this a national program as our research shows this to be a critical need across the country. We hope you will support our mission of transforming the lives of humans and their dogs!
