Hi everyone, my name is Derrica. I decided to start a fundraiser for my brother, Derrick. On Wednesday, August 25, he was in a terrible motorcycle accident that caused internal bleeding in his brain and stomach, his liver is shattered, and his jaw is fractured. Once he made it to the hospital, the doctors had to immediately start surgery on his brain to let all the pressure out. When they opened his skull, there was more internal bleeding than they expected and if they weren't able to stop the bleeding, my brother would no longer be here. Once they stopped the bleeding, Derrick had a stroke. Due to his surgery, the doctors told the family that they don’t know if my brother will ever be able to interact with the outside world ever again. Since the surgery on his brain, he’s been proving the doctors predictions of how he would turn out to be wrong. He’s strong, he’s responsive, he is alive, and healing. My brother will make it back home to us even though it will take a lot of time and healing. I’m starting this fundraiser to make sure when he does come back home, he will have anything and everything he needs to make sure he’s as comfortable as possible.
