Hi, I am Embrie and if you know me, you know that one of my favorite things is soccer. I am 15 years old and a sophomore at Gallatin High school. This summer I have the amazing opportunity to travel to Tanzania as a part of the Montana Tanzania Soccer Exchange Program and this is a fundraiser for that trip. I am incredibly excited about this opportunity because I know that it is going to be life-changing experience for me. I started playing soccer when I was four years old and haven't stopped since. I enjoy playing with my club team and my high school team at Gallatin High School. I have also had a great time playing with the Montana Olympic Development Program. I have been incredibly fortunate to have these opportunities to play soccer. I now have an even greater opportunity to combine my love for soccer with a service trip to Tanzania in the summer of 2025.
This July I will be traveling with high school students from all over Montana to Tanzania as a part of the Montana Tanzania Soccer Exchange. We will spend two weeks in Tanzania where I will be able to immerse myself in a foreign culture through soccer and service projects. Working together we will have the opportunity to improve and enhance the lives of children in Tanzania. Our trip is led by Montana Futbol Foundation and partners with New Vision in Tanzania.
Our work supports young people, like myself, from Montana working alongside young people from Tanzania to find innovative solutions to challenges within local Tanzanian communities. This project will serve as an opportunity to break barriers and bring young people together to navigate cultural differences and solve problems together. Furthermore, it will strengthen my character and foster leadership skills through rigorous service. Because of The Montana Tanzania Exchange, we will come back to Montana with learned strategies to impact our local communities, as future leaders in our global community.
New Vision serves over 200 students, aged 6-26, living in extreme poverty and at high risk for gang recruitment. The Montana volunteers will spend two weeks working with New Vision to:
- Improve the soccer field for the school - with an emphasis on regenerative farming and an educational element;
- Complete a regenerative farming project: closed loop nutrient cycling, water conservation management, chemical-free pest management, and an Agri-Business element
- Provide clinics in coaching, refereeing, fitness, and sports medicine for the New Vision staff and players;
- Host a women's Pamoja Classic tournament to advance women's football in Africa;
- Conduct educational classes for players with a focus on collaborative problem solving, where our MT players will participate with New Vision players as peers. The subjects will be, but not limited to, language, engineering, life skills, and geography. The goal is to have “student directed” but “teacher guided” instruction led by MT project Leaders and New Vision Staff.
This is going to be a very new and big experience for me that I am sure will be a life experience I will never forget. Your donation is truly appreciated and will go directly to the cost of my travel and other equipment needed. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them for you. Thank you for your support - every little bit counts and is truly appreciated! I am really excited for this amazing opportunity! Thank you!
